Travel Ideas from Miami, FL?
I have a week off before i have to go to Boston to stay with my family and me and my girlfriend want to go away from where we live for maybe a weekend. We live in miami and want to get either out of florida or do something here. Any suggestions? p.s. we have no interest in going to orlando to go to theme parks.

What about down in the Keys? Even head to Key West, where right now the prices aren't to terribly bad. After the holiday's the prices will go up as you are getting into their prime time then. The nice thing is if you want night life you can do the Duval street scene or if you just want a bit of quiet time with nature, you can hit one of the other Keys where just being around nature will be nice. Take advantage of the nice weather, in a few weeks you'lll be up in the freezing cold in Boston.

Saint Augustine?... any ideas ST. Augustine doesn't look like fun and I want to take my gf to a cool and romantic place with lots of things to do.... any suggestions will do it could be anywhere in the southeast area..

i believe you would have a good time in st.augustine there is so much to do you could visit the fort, take a boat tour,hang out in Ripley's,the wax museum , visit the old school,hospital and the old house ,check out the stores, buy some candy have a nice dinner, visit gatorland or marineland or you could take a ride on a1a maybe have a picnic

Why doesn't St Augustine look like fun? It's certainly not the most fast-paced city but it's perfect for a 2 day trip, no matter what kind of entertainment you're seeking. It is definitely romantic, with horse-drawn carriages, waterfront restaurants and bed and breakfasts, and boat cruises. There are cool things to do like ghost tours or even haunted pub tours, jet ski rentals, touring the historic sites like the old jail and the Castillo (fort), and even more. There's plenty to do to fill two days and then some

Add in some money for tolls if you will be going through any; money for food along the way; and money for motels/hotels if you are not planning to drive straight through. If it were me, I'd figure on stopping for two or three nights, and you can find relatively inexpensive motels for under a hundred a night

What are really must-see or must do things in a trip between Miami FL and Destin FL?
I'm traveling between Miami, FL and Destin, FLon November 18 and I want to make it a several days trip by stoping in cool places, towns, hotels. This trip is actually being done by my mom and her husband. They are both from a Latin country and speak spanish. They are between 40-45 years old. They are in very ood shape, very active, and love to just have fun, relax, and learn new things. They were thinking about stopping by St. Petersburg.

About How can I travel from Miami, FL OR Ft. Lauderdale to West Palm Beach without a car
How can I travel from Miami, FL OR Ft. Lauderdale to West Palm Beach without a car?
My travel plans got turned upside down and now I'm traveling alone arriving in one airport and out of another. I will renting a car some of the time but probably don't want to pay the fees to leave it at a different place than I rented it from. Is there a bus/train that I can take that can bring me between those two points? (I may be renting the car in Ft. Lauderdale or Miami and dropping it off in the respective city) I'm just curious what kind of transit systems there are in the area so I can research ways to get around should I need to without a car.

Yes, the Tri-Rail which is a train that travels to the three county: Miami, Broward and West Palm Beach. The train is really good and cheap and comfortable. You can check the website: http://www.tri-rail.com/ I have used the train a couple of times and is amazing!

How much would it cost to travel by car from Philadelphia PA to Miami FL?
Philadelphia to Miami, then Jacksonville and then Orlando, then back up to Philadelphia, but i only want to know from Philadelphia to Miami. the car is small, but fits 4-5 people. Kinda old, Late 90's but in good shape. How much would the tolls cost? Also, how much should i bring along for food? This is all Approximately, can anyone atleast try? :)

I'm not sure about tolls up north but there are not tolls down south.

I imagine you'll be taking I-95, so the only tolls you should hit are thru New Jersey - according to http://www.state.nj.us/turnpike/toll-rates.html, looks like about $9 each way. However, there are some tolls in Florida, especially around Orlando, and the expressway directly between Orlando and Miami (avoidable if you take I-95/I-4 instead, but does add significantly to the length of the trip.) If you're hitting the sights in/around Jacksonville, might either want to do so on the way south towards Miami or on the way back after Orlando...doing Miami-Jax-Orlando would add about 170 miles of backtracking between Jacksonville and Daytona. Foodwise, hard to say as it depends on where you plan to eat...however, if you're hitting the big theme parks, be aware that food/drink in the parks can get pretty pricey (not to mention long lines right at peak meal times)...you might be better off to pack a lunch and rent a locker to store it if money's tight

it would probably be easier to get into florida and then take I-75 south all the way down to miami (alligator ally) or take the Tamiami Trail. i have driven both ways from tampa, fl. i take the trail during the day and the ally during the night so which ever you feel safer doing at whatever time of the day.

Good time of year to travel to Miami, FL?
The week of 4th of July back in 2007 I went to Miami and it rained EVERY DAY and kind of spoiled the trip for me. Now here it is 2009 and I'm planning a return this Summer. I know we can't always foresee bad weather but can anyone give me a general good time of year to travel to Miami for sunshine, and good enough weather to make it down to the beach? Thanks in advance for your help.

Best time to visit Miami is from January-May. From June to November it's hurricane season so rain is expected. July is relatively rainy month compared to June, August, & September. After all you did say you last visited in 2007. We haven't had any hurricanes worth mentioning come here in the past 2-3 years now so were on the lucky side. If I were you I would come in the beginning of June. There will be plenty of sun and humidity to make it down to the beach
